Benefits of volunteering:
Animal rescue volunteering and assisting with the care of animals has often changed the life of the volunteer. Volunteers never forget the animals they helped get on the road to recovery. Of the people who are part of this important mission, volunteers learn important skills, undertake new challenges, and become part of a community that understands the importance of protecting animals from harm.
The volunteers at Castaways Animal Shelter & Sanctuary will help save and enrich the lives of animals, improve animal welfare in our community, learn new skills, and enjoy all of the wagging tails, wet kisses, and purring hearts each and every day.
Volunteer Opportunities

Animal interactions: Help our animals stay healthy and happy with dog walking, cat socialization, animal enrichment and training, and animal photography.

Customer service: Assist out staff with adoptions, admissions and providing friendly, efficient customer service to all members of the public.

Housekeeping and clerical support: Volunteers are essential to assisting staff with general housekeeping and clerical duties. Opportunities may include cleaning windows and floors, assisting with laundry and dishes, stocking areas with bedding, toys, and dishes, and providing clerical support. Cleaning cages and emptying litter boxes may also be part of the duties.

Special events: You may choose to be a part of the overall effort it takes to have special events (on or off site) that occur throughout the year. Volunteers may represent Castaways at events that help with fund raising or highlight animals available for adoption. All such events are aimed at educating the public about our mission and humane treatment of animals.

Adoption assistance: This may include paperwork, creating adoption packets or helping people with visiting the animals.
